Food, Fiber & More! Summer AgriCULTURE Institute

The Colorado Potato Administrative Committee (CPAC) was so excited to host a wonderful group of teachers for a week long educational opportunity. The teachers were able to enjoy class time, agriculture discussion from  Marvin Reynolds and Don Shawcroft. The rest of the week the teachers were out about throughout the San Luis Valley. National Potato Council Fly-In On February 26 through March 1, 2018, representatives of the Colorado Potato Industry joined growers and industry leaders from around the country in Washington D.C., on Capitol Hill, for the National Potato Council’s 2018 Potato D.C. Adams State Grizzlies Take On Colorado Mines Orediggers On January 27, Colorado Potatoes sponsored the Adams State University Men’s and Women’s basketball teams as they took on the Colorado School of Mines. The ASU women put up a great effort against the Colorado School of Mines women’s team and the ASU men were victorious, beating the Colorado School of Mines men, 60 to 54. Rising to the Challenge The Monte Vista Food Bank has received great support from the Colorado potato industry over the years.  It is rare for them to ever be out of potatoes!  However, they are always in need of support from the community to keep their shelves stocked.  This need is especially high during the holidays. Video Contest Salad Bars Awarded

Winning Schools in Elbert and Loveland Receive Salad Bars Recently, two more salad bars were donated by the Colorado potato industry as part of their prize for winning the 2017 Colorado Potatoes Video Contest.  Potatoes USA matched each donation, resulting in four salad bar donations total.  The schools who received the salad bars were Elbert School in Elbert, CO and Mary Blair Elementary, Centennial Elementary and B.
